Doki Doki Literature Club was recommended to me years ago. I downloaded it but never played it until now. I just finished my first playthrough and wow! The game is deep, dark, depressing, and brilliant! I know there is still more to see and I cannot wait to dive back in.
The game is a great deconstruction of the Visual Novel genre. It dives deep into character archetypes and has some of the best fourth-wall-breaking gameplay I’ve ever experienced. That said take the trigger warning at the beginning seriously. Issues like suicide and depression are deeply covered as well. These are hard topics to cover but I think DDLC does it well.
