Much to my surprise, a date was given for season two of Kantai Collection! Turns out it was announced back in 2015 but is not airing until this fall. For those who have forgotten Kantai Collection was based on a very popular browser game that took fan art and cosplay by storm. It was set during an alternate World War II where anthropomorphic battleships fought the Abyssal fleet for control of the seas.
Unlike Azure Lane, which came later, Kantai Collection did not have any official kemonomimi. Some came close Like Shimakaze who wears a ribbon that looks like bunny ears or Musashi who’s hair is styled like ears. I did a quick search for official kemonomimi Kantai Collection art and found Nowaki. During the Late Autumn 2020, even she was outfitted with full kemonomimi ears, a tail, and paws! Sadly Kantai Collection is past its heyday. Many gamers, cosplayers, and artists have moved on. I doubt the anime will bring it back in style but I still look forward to seeing season two this fall!
