Due to my love of Nekomimis I have decided to post something catgirl related each week! It maybe cute. It maybe sexy. It may even be a bit disturbing…

Back in the early 1980s the tale of a group of adventures searching for the legendary Dragonballs was being told for the first time. This legendary manga would not only have ripple effects on the manga industry but on the world as a whole. Back in chapter 10 on page 5, Bulma would wear a bunny suit for the first time. After waking up to discover that she had no clean clothes to wear Bulma had no choice but to wear the only thing Oolong had that fit her. That happened to be a bunny suit… The rest is history.

Today’s post is dedicated to Akira Toriyama the creator of Dragonball. Like many others, his most famous work had a big impact on me. Dragonball Z consumed most of my life from middle school through high school. The impact this manga from the 80s had is immeasurable. Just reflecting on Dragonball after watching it over 20 years ago made me realize that it has influenced me in ways I didn’t even remember. Toriyama inspired others to do the right thing and make sacrifices for the greater good. For many Dragonball Z was also their inspiration to get in shape and workout.

I looked at my hair and remembered it too is indirectly inspired by Akira Toriyama’s work. I was such a big fan of Trunks that I used to get Perms to straighten my hair to look like him. My mom pointed out that this was unhealthy for my hair and offered to give me dreadlocks instead. To this day I still wear my hair in dreads. This made me realize that the ripple effects of Dragonball Z are bigger than we might know. There is no telling how much the world of manga and anime as well as what real-world decisions will be affected by Toriyama’s work. We do know his influence will last forever. Thank you Akira Toriyama. You have changed the world forever!
