It is the last Saturday of Pride Month and I won’t let it go by without a Pride-related Cat[girl]urday post. Today we will do things a little differently and talk about cat boys. Back in the early 2000s the manga Loveless was released. It stars a young cat boy named Ritsuka Aoyagi whose brother died two years prior. He meets a “friend” of his brother named Soubi Agatsuma. It turns out Soubi and Ritsuka’s brother were partners who fought in spell battles. After discovering that an organization called Septimal Moon is responsible for the brother’s death, Soubi and Ritsuka team up to learn the whole truth behind his murder.
The manga is considered a romance and despite the age difference a bond forms between the two. It is worth noting it is not a Yaoi manga and does not contain adult content. I personally only read the first volume but it was the first shonen-ai I ever tried. If you are into dark mysteries, boy’s love, and cat boys give Loveless a shot!
