Normally, Cat[girl]urday celebrates fun catgirl and catgirl-related activities. Today, however, we have some sad news to discuss. The Umamusume: Pretty Derby – 7th EVENT: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES concert has been canceled due to visa issues.
The news first broke on October 18, when the official Umamusume Twitter account informed fans that staff members were experiencing difficulties obtaining visas. At the time, the organizers said they were working to get the visas approved in time, but warned that cancellation was a possibility. Sadly, the following day, they had to make that announcement official.
Despite reportedly working to obtain the necessary visas for more than six months, the organizers were unable to get them approved in time. The cancellation has understandably frustrated fans, and some have begun discussing the possibility of political action in response. While the reasons behind the delays remain unclear, the situation highlights the difficulties international performers can face when organizing events in the United States.
Thankfully, Cygames is offering refunds for the event and has also said it will work to reimburse travel expenses. Since this was the tour’s only North American stop, many fans may have traveled a considerable distance to attend. I am glad to see the organizers making an effort to help those affected by the cancellation, even though I am sure that does little to ease the disappointment.
Hopefully, issues like this will be less likely to derail international events in the future. For all the trainers in North America who were looking forward to seeing their favorite horse girls take the stage, I hope you get another opportunity to experience this concert someday!
