The new Street Fighter movie is out, and I am sure it will cause a stir. The original Street Fighter movie is already known as an “awesomely bad” movie. It was so cheesy that it developed a charm of its own. Later, they tried to reboot the franchise with Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, but that movie was generally considered just plain bad. There was also a fan-produced live-action series called Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist that some fans consider a hidden gem, even if it is not as well known.
As much as I love Street Fighter, there is another Capcom fighting game I would love to see get more attention. Of course, I am talking about Darkstalkers, also known as Vampire in Japan. This horror-themed fighting game franchise has not had a new mainline installment since 1997, but it still has plenty of devoted fans. That is no doubt thanks to its amazing cast of characters.
One such character is Felicia, one of the most famous catgirls in gaming history. She has made appearances in numerous games and remains a popular subject for fan art and cosplay. Even though I know it probably will not happen, I would love to see a Darkstalkers movie featuring Felicia. Given how niche the franchise is, I doubt a movie is in the cards anytime soon.
The artwork above comes from the covers of UDON X Capcom: Sketchbook Beta. Cover A features Cammy from Street Fighter, while Cover B features Felicia from Darkstalkers. Put the two covers together, and you get one continuous image of the two fighting femmes competing in a video game showdown on their handheld systems. From the look on Felicia’s face, I would say she is not happy with how things are going!
Felicia usually has a pretty mild temper, but I guess even catgirls can become angry gamers. I hope this does not cause any ill will between her and Cammy!
Hopefully, I will get a chance to see Cammy on the big screen this weekend. If I am lucky, maybe we will get to see Felicia up there someday, too!
So what do you think?
