For the first Cat[girl]urday in June, I would like to highlight a character I recently discovered. While catching up on Jujutsu Kaisen, Kirara Hoshi caught my eye. Kirara is a third-year student at Jujutsu High who left the school after Kinji Hakari’s suspension. Together, they ran an underground fight club for Jujutsu sorcerers. At the start of the Culling Game, Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro try to recruit them. That is when we get to see Kirara shine.
Kirara does not trust these newcomers and gets into a fight with Megumi. During the battle, Megumi has to figure out the secret behind Kirara’s Cursed Technique, Love Rendezvous. I will not spoil it here, but it is an exciting battle of wits. Both Megumi and Kirara have to put their tactical intellect to the test.
The art above by Rasuta_1111 is one of the only images I could find of Kirara with cat ears. Thankfully, the artist does a wonderful job of capturing their charm. That reminds me of the other reason I wanted to write about Kirara. The English translation of the anime consistently uses gender-neutral language when referring to them, making Kirara a fitting character to feature at the start of Pride Month. No matter how you celebrate, I hope your month is colorful and fun!
So what do you think?
