Due to my love of Nekomimis I have decided to post something catgirl related each week! It maybe cute. It maybe sexy. It may even be a bit disturbing…

Some catgirls become impossible to ignore. One such nekomimi is Kit Bodega from Gameoverse. Ever since the pilot aired on May 15, I’ve been seeing fan art of her everywhere, so I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about.

The first thing that stood out to me about Gameoverse was its love of gaming. The pilot immediately took me back to the 90s with both its visual style and the classic games it lovingly parodies. Kit’s design especially gives off strong Mega Man vibes, and who can complain about a catgirl Mega Man?

The show’s premise is equally compelling. Kit and her crew travel across different video game worlds to save them from destruction. There is one catch, however: if a world’s hero defeats its villain, that world is destroyed. To prevent that from happening, Kit must help the villains and stop the heroes from winning.

Standing in her way is Warrick, who leads a group of villains known as the Syntax. Their goal is to harvest a mysterious energy called “float” from dying worlds. Exactly what they plan to do with it remains unknown, but they frequently manipulate heroes into defeating villains in order to advance their plans.

Gameoverse was created by Ross O’Donovan and written by Game Grumps’ Arin Hanson. The production also features notable talent such as Christopher Sabat as Warrick and music by Grant Kirkhope. The pilot won me over with its mix of world-building, mystery, and retro gaming charm. Kit is an instantly likable protagonist, and I can’t wait to see what worlds she visits next and what Warrick ultimately plans to do with float.

So what do you think?
