Cat[girl]urday: Is it Wrong for Catgirls to be Hostess?

Due to my love of Nekomimis I have decided to post something catgirl related each week! It maybe cute. It maybe sexy. It may even be a bit disturbing…

I finally got caught up on DanMachi and I was happy to see the catgirls from the Hostess of Fertility did indeed have a bigger role. After their fellow host, Ryu Lion goes missing, they receive a request for backup from the Hestia Familia Anya Fromel and Chloe Rollo join the reinforcements in searching for them. Despite their cute catgirl appearance, both ladies are former adventures and after waiting four seasons we finally get to see them in action!

Well, we sort of get to see them in action. Most of the story is about Ryu’s past and her surviving the lower levels of the dungeon with Bell Cranel. We do get to see both catgirls leave their maid costumes behind and fight some monsters. Sadly, these scenes are few and far between. They are, however, full of cat puns!

That said I am happy to have finally seen this season of “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”. The cute art style and fan service is very misleading. This anime can be very dark, brutal, and bloody. Ryu’s story is no different. She lost her entire Familia and went on a quest for revenge that wiped out another one. In past seasons this was just exposition but now we finally get to see her personal hell with our own eyes.

Thankfully she has catgirl friends. I know they did not do much this season but catgirls make everything better. Now that everything is said, she has friends and a home to return to. They are the kind of friends that will go deep into a dungeon to look for her when she misses work. The Hostess of Fertility may just seem like a pub but the ladies who work there are clearly strong warriors with complicated tales. I hope we learn more about them in the future!

So what do you think?
