The Tail of Cat[girl]urday

It is that time of the year kids! Gather around to hear the history of Cat[girl]urday! A long time ago, a gaming website known as IGN had fan-run blogs. For gamers that were users of this site, this was an opportunity to dabble in amateur gaming journalism. This was not easy as it meant finding a way to consistently write blog posts. This led to the birth of blog features and one of those features was Cat[girl]urday.

The year was 2008 and one blogger was struggling to write consistently on IGN. At that time the IGN blogging community mostly consisted of gamers but this blogger took a different approach. While searching for anime art he found a forum post filled with catgirl art. After batch downloading the images he decided to write a blog post about catgirls once a week. The idea was that it would buy time between gaming-related posts. In time it ended up outgrowing the gaming content on his blog and became so much more.

The blog became known for this feature and it became one of the first anime-focused features on the IGN blogs. It drew out the anime fans in the community and provided the most consistent blog feature on the site. Every Saturday had a catgirl post, even as the IGN Blogs began to change. IGN decided to move the blogs to a new system known as MyIGN which failed to keep its old user base. Many left the site and eventually, it was shut down. That blogger kept posting until the very end.

After IGN shut down his blog he decided to move on. He created his own website so he would no longer be at the mercy of others. No mods, no editors, no gatekeepers.
