I watched the last episode of Princess Connect! Re:Dive last week and it was amazing! That said, one element from the mobile game did not make it into the anime. The characters were supposed to be playing a game called Legend of Astrum and have real-world counterparts. For example, Karyl/Kyaru is really Kiruya Momochi. Much to my surprise most of this information is now hard to find.
I went back to Kiruya Momochi’s page on the Princess Connect Re:Dive Wiki today and noticed the “Kyaru in Real Life” section was removed. I had to look at an older version of the page to find it. It states: “In real life, Kyaru has a poor relationship with her parents as she makes an attempt to run away from home. She [sic]idolises her relative, Senri Mana. Unlike most of the other characters, she does not play the Legend of Astrum frequently.” I can see why this might have been removed. The real world vs the game world is a little cliché. That said I wish they explored the real-world element more. Even if it was just little teases. The anime was still excellent. I might have to give the game a try.
