Nitroplus’ mascot Super Sonico is back, and she is wearing a high-tech version of her famous tiger parka! A few months ago, the game DAIBLOS CORE [Cross Core] had a crossover event featuring her as a summon. Normally, Sonico is a university student who also works as a gravure idol. She is also the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band First Cosmic Velocity. In DAIBLOS CORE, however, she has somehow found herself involved in space combat!
DAIBLOS CORE is a Chinese gacha game that focuses on space exploration. You play as a fleet commander who uses advanced propulsion technology to send fleets into unknown sectors on expeditions. When hostile forces are encountered, specialized mecha and weapons are used to engage them in combat. As of now, the game is only available in China and Japan. I don’t have much more information about it because most of the game isn’t available in English.
Space combat does seem a little out of place for Super Sonico. She is known more for music and modeling than fighting, so seeing her dropped into a sci-fi combat game is certainly an interesting choice. Thankfully, the game doesn’t turn her into some kind of frontline warrior. Sonico is actually a support and healing character, and according to her character description, she is only allowed to participate in combat under certain circumstances and with the other members of the team keeping a close eye on her.
Even if you can’t play DAIBLOS CORE, if you’re a fan of Sonico, you should check out this crossover event. There is some amazing artwork to be seen! This includes a trip to a famous hot spring, because apparently sending Super Sonico into space wasn’t enough.
I guess when you’re Nitroplus’ mascot, you can end up anywhere!
