Seventeenth years after the anime debuted, Strike Witches is still getting new official art! Just this week the official Twitter account celebrated the birthday of two proud witches. It turns out that both Pilot Officer Sanya V. Litvyak and Sergeant Hattori Shizuka were born on August 18! Both ladies were born just a year apart.
Sanya was born first in 1930 in Moscow in the Empire of Orussia while Shizuka is from Fuso. Although both served in the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, Sanya was a member from the beginning and Shizuka was transferred to the 501st near the end of the war in 1945. Both bravely fought the Neuroi and defended both the earth and our freedom. For that I salute them. Happy Birthday Sanya and Shizuka!
