One of the greatest anime series ever is back in a new remake. Rumiko Takahashi’s Ranma ½ is hard to describe with a single genre. At its heart, it is a romantic comedy, full of martial arts action, and a super rare double harem anime. We have not even mentioned one of the anime’s biggest twists.
Ranma Saotome is a young martial artist who traveled and trained with his dad. He is also supposed to get engaged to a member of the Tendo family. Despite their protest, Akane Tendo is volunteered for the role. To complicate matters they both have other rivals who are also martial artists who are literally fighting for their love. To further complicate matters, several of them have fallen into cursed hot springs in China that force them to transform when splashed with cold water. For Ranma, this means transforming into a girl whenever he is splashed with cold water!
While in China Ranma’s dad might have promised to marry his son to another girl. This girl is no other than Shampoo. She chases Ranma back to Japan where she tries to win him over. One more thing about Shampoo… She turns into a cat when splashed with cold water! This makes her a catgirl by technicality. To be honest, she has always been one of my favorite catgirls. I can’t wait to see her in the new anime!
