This week brought sad news. Cowriter and illustrator for Tokyo Mew Mew Mia Ikumi passed away at 42. Tokyo Mew Mew is a manga that has inspired many fans and artists. Although I never finished the manga while I was growing up I enjoyed the sci-fi take on the magical girl genre. I remember buying the first Omnibus for my niece knowing it would be a good manga for her to read. Like many, I am saddened by this news. I wish I had taken the time to read the entire manga sooner. Ikumi’s work will inspire people until the end of time.
