Today, let’s take a look back at Cat[girl]urday throughout the years. For those who do not know, this blog was once hosted on IGN. Back in the mid-2000s, they experimented with a MySpace-like feature, and for many gamers, it was our introduction to publishing content online. That said, a lot of us did not know what the heck we were doing…
Enter a user by the name of AlloyNES. He recommended to his fellow bloggers to start trying features. The idea was to come up with themes to encourage regular posting. I tried a few, like “Overheard,” which I would use to discuss news articles I found interesting. Another was “Objection,” which I would debate opinions I did not agree with. As you might have guessed, there was also Cat[girl]urday that started after I found a forum full of catgirl art.
It started off with me posting randomly about catgirls. This led to me delving deeper into where such interesting characters came from – anime, video games, and comics. More time and energy was put into crediting artists and researching sources. At one point, we even held a contest to encourage other bloggers to leave comments. Points were awarded to frequent commentators, and the person with the most won a header or medal for their blogs as a prize. Some of my closest IGN friends won these contests, and I will post some of the prizes here for a little trip down memory lane. Of all the things I explored back then, the only thing that ever really stuck was Cat[girl]urday. It continues to bring joy, even to this day.
Like with IGN, this blog is supposed to be more than just Catgirls. For me, however, it is just easier to express myself via catgirls. Is it a little strange? Yes, it is. But you know what? I have met some amazing people because of C[G]D. Cat[girl]urday is winning the test of time, officially beating out the very platform it started on and more!
IGN, Blogger… Twitter just might be next. Or does it count since it’s technically X now? It is just proof that with catgirls, there is always a way.
