Cat[girl]urday: More Than Just a Catboy

Due to my love of Nekomimis I have decided to post something catgirl related each week! It maybe cute. It maybe sexy. It may even be a bit disturbing…

It is the last Cat[girl]urday of Pride Month, and I couldn’t let it pass without talking about my favorite trans cat. Felix Argyle, better known as Ferris, is one of the most recognizable cat characters in anime. While many fans know Ferris simply as the cat-eared boy who dresses femininely, there is far more to this beast-human than first impressions suggest.

Ferris’ story begins with an abusive childhood. Born as Felix, he endured years of mistreatment before being rescued by Crusch Karsten, the head of House Karsten. Given a second chance at life, he devoted himself to serving the woman who had saved him. Ferris initially tried to become a swordsman, but his frail body prevented him from mastering the blade. Rather than giving up, he discovered another way to protect those he cared about by becoming one of the kingdom’s most gifted healing magic users.

As the two grew closer, Crusch admitted that she often worried about being viewed as too masculine to lead. Wanting to support her in every way possible, Ferris promised to embody the femininity she felt she lacked, allowing Crusch to embrace her own strength without hesitation. Around this time, Ferris also embraced the name he had accidentally misheard, leaving behind the name given by his abusive parents and the painful life it represented.

For me, Ferris’ story is ultimately about reclaiming one’s identity. He escaped an abusive home, found people who accepted him, and became the person he wanted to be rather than the person others expected him to be. Whether you know Ferris as a healer, a loyal knight, or simply the famous cat-eared character from Re: Zero, I hope you’ll look beyond the surface. His journey is one of resilience, acceptance, and self-discovery, making him much more than just a cross-dressing catboy.

So what do you think?
